Christopher Papaloizou LL.B(Hons) LL.M MCIArb
Barrister, Commercial and Family Mediator

Christopher Papaloizou is a London based mediator who has conducted mediations all over the UK from St. Austell in Cornwall to York in North Yorkshire. “Since my first mediation in 2011 I have enjoyed travelling the UK helping people find a settlement to their disputes. I have been involved in mediating disputes regarding commercial leases, inheritance, minority shareholdings latent defect and probate and to date I have been able to help parties reach a full settlement in 85% of the time“. Christopher’s proven record of success and exceptional negotiating and dispute resolving skills represents one of our pool of growing mediation talents.

Called to the bar of England and Wales in 2004 Christopher specialises in civil litigation having represented both claimants and defendants in property and possession proceedings, landlord and tenant, contract and consumer debt actions, road traffic matters, boundary disputes and insurance claims. I love being a lawyer and think my legal and mediation work go hand in hand. I don’t find it at all difficult switching from one practice to the other in fact I believe my legal skills have made me a better mediator and my mediation skills have made me a better barrister and I believe that all my clients see and get the benefit of that

Along with his legal and his civil, commercial  and community mediation practice Christopher is also a trained Family Mediator. “I have wanted for sometime to get involved with family mediation but I only just got around to it towards the end of 2012. Gaining accreditation as a family mediator was as proud a moment for me as being called to the bar and qualifying as a commercial mediator. I am enjoying helping couples establish new beginnings “. Christopher is therefore one of our all round mediators able to skilfully mediate in civil, commercial and family mediations.

For his services both as a duty adviser, as a mentor at a local college and as a community mediator Christopher was honoured in 2012 with a community award for his dedication to helping others. I was chuffed to bits when I was first informed that I was to be given a community award. I never got involved with any of these various projects for reward or kudos but to be acknowledged for helping others was a real high point for me”.

Having served in the army in Cyprus in the early 1990’s Christopher is a proficient Greek speaker. “I really enjoyed my time in the forces it taught me the importance of discipline, tenacity and working together for a greater good. I think this has helped me to persevere and keep going even when things seem hopeless “. In his spare time Christopher is a keen marathon runner having successfully completed the 2003 London Marathon. Christopher is also a football fan and an accredited Football Association coach. “I love playing football and watching Spurs. I’ll run more marathons and study for my FA level 2 coaching badge when I get time“.
